Claudio
Claudio called me after he had produced his first bottling of Moscatel wine – a white grape variety indigenous to his native village of Benitachell (Alicante). A passionate young winemaker, his vineyards are organic and carefully tended to. He planted wheat to help minimise erosion which also prevent weeds from taking over and the adelia biopunctata (two spotted lady beetle) he introduced to keep the aphid population down. My Tasting Notes: This wine is slightly straw-like in colour, with layers of citric fruits and peaches on the nose, crispy with a very satisfying finish. All in all, an excellent achievement for a young winemaker.
